Brothers Football Manager Tim Rumford welcomes Nick Harrold to the Club

Posted 3/01/2020

Cairns Brothers are pleased to announce the signing of Nick Harrold and Fletcher Harrold. The pair have both played for the Tugun Club on the Gold Coast and have both earned representative honours.

Nick, a hard-working forward who can operate at prop, back row or lock has over 50 State Cup appearances to his name. He has had stints with Burleigh Bears, Tweed Heads and Wynnum Manly before returning to his Junior Club, Tugun Seahawks as Club Captain. Younger brother Fletcher (21) has played in the NSW SG Ball Competition and more recently with the Tugun Club, is predominantly a hooker but can also play in the backs.

Brothers Football Manager, Tim Rumford commented “When it came to our attention Nick and Fletcher were looking to make the move to Cairns we were very interested from the outset. I spoke to a couple of players who have played with and against Nick at ISC level and the response was very positive. Having met Nick and chatted to him about the things we are looking to achieve here at Brothers, I could see we were on the same page. Fletcher is still a young player who has played at representative level and is keen to make his mark in the competition here. At 21, he will certainly have every opportunity to do that here at Brothers. He has a pretty sharp running game and he’s a skilful kid. I have no doubt our Head Coach Paul Stevens and the coaching team will help further develop his game - we are really looking forward to working with them.”

These signings further bolster the Brothers playing squad which will include a number of new faces including Luke George and Jordan Biondi-Odo, with a host of re-signings and new additions to be announced in the coming weeks.

Speaking about the move to Cairns Nick said “After confirming that my family and I would be relocating to Cairns from the Gold Coast I was keen to find a family-orientated club with a great culture. Having experienced a few different ISC clubs and also my junior and current team Tugun Seahawks, Cairns Brothers looks like a club that is heading in the right direction and ticked all the boxes. Having met and spoken with Tim, I feel that this will be a really good move for us. My brother Fletcher and I will be settled in at the end of January and are looking forward to meeting the players and staff and getting stuck in to training. I will hopefully share some of my experience with some of the younger players at the club and contribute to the clubs ongoing efforts to develop a winning culture on and off the field.”

Senior Training begins at Stan Williams Park on Tues 14th January 6pm - registrations are open now! Head to
