Cairns Brothers are delighted to announce that A-grade play-maker Jordan Biondi-Odo will take the reins as Captain-Coach in 2021.
Biondi-Odo played 89 times in the Queensland cup for Northern Pride and signed for Brothers ahead of the 2020 season after previously being allocated to the club for a handful of games in 2019. The experienced and pivotal half back will lead the brethren’s assault on the 2021 C.D.R.L competition.
“Moving into coaching is something that’s been at the back of my mind for a while but I wasn’t in any rush to go after a coaching gig . When the club told me there might be an opportunity here, I gave it plenty of thought. The club has been very good to me in the last two seasons and I was made welcome from the outset. Brothers is a club with a good reputation for treating players well, also for developing players and coaches. It was an easy decision in the end and I can’t wait to get started now- recruitment is ongoing for next season and I have already been getting involved in that with Tim (Football Manager) and the Stephen (Club president) who have been really supportive.
Brothers Football manager Tim Rumford is delighted to see Biondi-Odo step up. “Jordan has very strong leadership qualities and is respected by everyone at the club. The committee along with his coaching team will give Jordan all the support he needs here. Jordan has all the fundamental attributes to progress as a coach and we will work hard with him to make sure he has every opportunity to enhance those skills as he grows as a coach. Technically as a player Jordan is up there with the best in the competition and his game management is superb – the transition into coaching is a natural progression for a player like Jordan - we are all looking forward to working with him”.

Biondi –Odo will be supported by a coaching team that comprises of Brothers current assistant coach and club legend Ben Fitzpatrick and former Tugan Seahawks pack star Nick Harrold. Craig McKell will remain with the club as Strength and conditioner and F.A.O. whilst Brothers ex player - former powerhouse forward Brian McEvoy stays on has sports Trainer.
