Posted 17/09/2019

Cairns Brothers have continued to strengthen the squad for 2020 with the signing of centre Luke George.  Luke, who made 13 Intrust Super Cup appearances for the Capras this year can also play in the back row. Having played over 100 Super league games in the U.K for Bradford Bulls , Wakefield and Huddersfield Giants along with 76 intrust Super Cup appearances under his belt , Luke will add both strike and a experience to the Brothers back line.

"I have had a good run in the ISC and its maybe something I could have persued for another season or two, but once I spoke with Paul and Tim (Brothers coach and Football manager) it was clear that Brothers would be the obvious choice for me. They are keen to create a real good enviroment for players to develop and grow their game and are looking to install some smart things into their programmes to help the players and the team achieve.  This really appealed to me , I am also looking forward to getting involved with some of the young talent at the club and hope my experience can benefit those guys"

Brothers Football manager Tim Rumford commented " Luke ticks a lot of boxes for us in terms of his experience , abilty and attitude,. He has a lot to offer our group and he is keen to give back by helping the young players which is great. Luke will add size and strength to our back line and he is a superb role model for our younger guys. Both myself and coach Paul Stevens were impressed with Luke when we spoke with him and we shared a lot of common ground on where we wouldl like to see the club heading in 2020. It will be hopefully be an exciting time to be at Brothers and Luke's playing attributes will lend  themselves to the expansive style of Rugby League that Paul and his staff like to encourage - I had coached teams against Luke in his early days in the UK - he's always had a turn of pace and some flair about his game - which we look forward to seeing at Stan Williams Park in 2020"
